Samsung Terrace: Everything we know so far about the Outdoor 4K QLED TV & Soundbar
What is Samsung terrace | how much does it cost | when will it be released and where | and more…

Samsung’s latest product offering will finally allow us to enjoy TV outdoors, come rain or shine... Samsung Terrace TV is stated to be the company’s first outdoor TV, complete with a weather-resistance rating of IP55. So far, we don’t know much about Samsung Terrace TV because the news has only just broken. However, we’ll keep updating this article with new information as it comes out. Please continue reading for a detailed overview of everything we know about Samsung Terrace TV… so far.
What is Samsung Terrace TV?
Samsung Terrace TV is the company’s first TV that can be installed outdoors. This robust Samsung TV can withstand harsh rains and provide sunning QLED 4K visuals even under harsh direct sunlight. Samsung Terrace TV also comes with a weather-resistant Terrace Soundbar, making it a complete theatrical outdoor experience.
Samsung Electronics has designed The Terrace to provide the complete indoor entertainment experience outside. Samsung Terrace TV will be available in three sizes — 55-inches, 65-inches, and 75-inches. Furthermore, Samsung Terrace TV will fit into any outdoor area, whether you’re looking for a terrace installation, poolside installation, or any other.
Samsung Terrace TV has a weather-resistance rating of IP55, which means it’s protected against dust and water sprays. In the IP rating, the first digit refers to protection from solids, and the second digit refers to protection from liquids.
In solid protection, ‘5’ provides protection against enough dust to ensure normal operation outdoors, but it’s not completely dust-tight. As such, Samsung Terrace TV will likely withstand dust from outdoors, but not sandstorms or other such situations. In liquid protection, ‘5’ provides protection from water sprays from a 6.3mm nozzle. As such, Samsung Terrace TV can withstand most heavy rain showers.
The following is a quote from James Fishler, Senior Vice President of the Home Entertainment Division at Samsung Electronics America:
"In recent months, as we’ve spent more time at home, we’ve seen how the TV has played an even more essential role in our everyday lives. It’s a center for entertainment, a source for news, a hub for exercise, and it helps us stay connected at work. As the weather improves, consumers are looking to enjoy those experiences outdoors. The Terrace takes all the Samsung Smart TV experiences that consumers have come to expect, and optimizes them for the backyard."
So far, the biggest name in outdoor TVs is SunBrite. However, SunBrite TV had to be installed under a shade, and it didn’t provide optimal protection from glare. As such, Samsung Terrace TV is likely to be the first IP55 smart TV that can withstand sun glare completely.

Samsung Terrace TV Features
We don’t have a complete overview of Samsung Terrace TV’s capabilities and features. However, the following is an overview of some of The Terrace’s primary features.
Ultra-Bright Picture Quality Outdoors
Samsung Terrace TV’s primary feature is that it provides pristine visual clarity even in outdoor conditions.
Samsung Terrace TV is a QLED 4K TV, which provides the sharpest clarity possible. Furthermore, it has a brightness level of 2,000 nits, which makes it bright enough to maintain clarity even under harsh sunlight. Furthermore, it has a motion rate of MR240, which means it’s ideal for high-motion content, such as sports.
Most importantly, Samsung Terrace TV’s display has an anti-reflective coating, and it uses adaptive picture technology. The anti-reflective coating minimizes or negates glare from the sun. And the adaptive picture technology ensures your display adapts to its surroundings.
Another impressive feature is the inbuilt HDBaseT receiver, which pairs with other HDBaseT transmitters to deliver video from other sources from inside your home. As such, with a single Ethernet cable, you can transmit video from other devices located inside your home to your Samsung Terrace TV.
With all of these features, Samsung Terrace TV allows you to enjoy crystal-clear visuals even when you’re out under the sun.
Tizen SmartTV Integration
Samsung Terrace TV is equipped with Tizen, which is Samsung’s native smart TV platform. Tizen SmartTV gives you access to the following features:
-
Samsung TV Plus: This is a free linear TV video service comprising over 120 channels.

Samsung Health: A compressive health, fitness, and wellness application that’s about to launch in the US next week.
-

-
Mobile Viewing: Tizen SmartTV supports mobile viewing capabilities, such as MultiView, with which you can play videos on your mobile and TV simultaneously, mirror your smartphone, etc.
-
Voice Control: Tizen SmartTV will also support most of the leading voice services, including Bixby, Alexa, and the upcoming Google Assistant.
Terrace Soundbar
Samsung Terrace TV also comes with an IP55 soundbar that’s just as brilliant as the TV. The Terrace Soundbar will have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth compatibility for those who want to adjust the sound remotely.
You’ll be able to mount Terrace Soundbar on a wall or attach it to the Terrace TV. The Terrace Soundbar features a distortion-canceling technology that negates potential distortions in sound before they occur, thus ensuring complete clarity.
As of now, we don’t have more details on the Terrace Soundbar’s audio capabilities. However, we’re told it’s rich, clear, and provides a home theater experience. We’ll update this section with more details once they’re released.
